Volleyball Loses Third Straight Game to WCC Champion San Diego

Santa Clara University volleyball (15-12, WCC 10-6) lost in four sets to the University of San Diego (23-4, WCC 16-0) on Saturday, marking the Broncos’ third loss in a row. 

San Diego took the first two sets 25-16 and 25-19. Three kills and two service aces by Grace Flanagan ’27 along with five kills from Cate Shanahan ’27 led the Broncos to win the third set 25-21. The Toreros countered quickly to win the fourth set 25-15. 

Selin Aslayan ’26 and Grace Flanagan ’27 led the Broncos with 12 kills each. 

In their previous two games, Santa Clara lost away against Oregon State University and Pepperdine University. The three losses come after a seven game win streak, the Broncos’ longest since 2016. 

The Broncos sit in fifth place in the West Coast Conference with two games left to play in the regular season. 

They will finish the WCC season at home against Washington State University on Wednesday at 6 p.m., and Seattle University on Saturday at 1 p.m.
