For the third time in program history, Santa Clara University has clinched the West Coast Conference’s 2024-25 Commissioner’s Cup, awarded annually to the league’s best-performing school in conference play.

Since its inception in 2001, the Broncos have taken home this prestigious award three times, previously in 2004-05 and 2006-07.

“What an incredible honor it is to win the 2024-25 WCC Commissioner’s Cup,” said Director of Athletics Heather Owen. “This is a testament to our University and its unwavering support of our student-athletes, coaches, and staff, to our athletics department, and to those who have worn the Bronco uniform. Earning this season’s Commissioner’s Cup acknowledges our relentless pursuit of excellence both on and off the field.”

The award coming back to Santa Clara was made possible through some impressive team performances, beginning with women’s soccer capturing their 14th WCC Championship in the fall. Softball clinched the award for the Broncos this spring, winning their respective championship in May. Both men’s and women’s golf also made notable contributions, finishing third in their WCC Championship matches, and beach volleyball also made it to the finals and provided points for Santa Clara.

The award is presented on a points-based system, ranked on how teams perform in WCC postseason play. Santa Clara accumulated 85.98 points, narrowly beating out Pepperdine, who had 84.43, for the award. Overall, the Broncos finished second in the women’s category and third in the men’s, giving them the highest combined mark.
