Anti-gay e-mail investigation stalled
By Jack Gillum
University officials have no suspects in the investigation of an profanity-laced e-mail sent to several students last November.
"Any leads to my knowledge have been exhausted," Assistant Dean for Student Life Matthew Duncan said.
The e-mail, sent from a Hotmail account, harshly denounced gays and lesbians in general, but also pinpointed the Gay and Lesbian Alliance.
Duncan could not comment if any students have been questioned by the Office of Student Life in the last several months.
Senior Noel Fonseca, one recipient of the e-mail, said it would be "hard to prove" from where the e-mail originated. But during the whole process, he felt that he had a minimal role.
"I was left in the dark," he said. "It kinda died out."
One parent, who spoke to The Santa Clara on the condition of anonymity in a January telephone interview, confirmed that her son had been questioned by the university.
Officials said an investigation is ongoing.
