Broncos give back in 5K Fun Run

By Kurt Wagner

Activities Programming Board spear-headed the "Broncos Giving Back 5K Fun Run" around Santa Clara's campus last Saturday morning to raise money for Sacred Heart Community Center in San Jose. The first annual run was a campus-wide hit with 145 participants from student organizations and groups combining to contribute over $730 to Sacred Heart. APB gathered 17 additional sponsor organizations from around the campus community to help subsidize the race and boost community participation. All 18 sponsors, who could donate either $100 or $20, had their organization names or logos emblazoned on shirts given to participants during registration. Fr. Jack Treacy, S.J. (above, #1) won the award for "Most Spirited" following the race at the award reception in the Locatelli Center. Male and female first place finishers: Kevin Pearson (18:14) and Anna Houk (24:08).
