Broncos Pull Out Win Ahead of Matchup Against No.12 Gonzaga

Santa Clara men’s basketball (22-5, 13-1) tied their program record for West Coast Conference wins in a season with their 84-72 win against Seattle University (15-11, 4-9) on Wednesday, Feb. 11 at the Leavey Center.
The Broncos notched their 13th win at the Leavey Center and remain undefeated at home on the season.
Sash Gavalyugov ’28 led the team in scoring with 21 points including shooting 5-of-9 from the 3-point line.
Prior to the matchup, the Broncos were tied at the top of the West Coast Conference standings with the same conference record as Gonzaga. Seattle was in ninth place.
The Redhawks played above their weight, keeping the Broncos largest lead to only 12 points. At halftime, the Bronco lead was just four points.
The game was the first matchup between the two teams since 1987. Seattle University rejoined the West Coast Conference this year.
