Santa Clara ranked No. 11 employer in 'Best Places to Work in the Bay Area'
The university was ranked No. 11 in the "big companies" category, which includes 501 to 3,000 employees, in the San Francisco Business Times' annual "Best Places to Work in the Bay Area 2007." Other top Bay Area employers included Barclays, Mills-Peninsula Health Services, Network Appliance and Intuit. Santa Clara was the only institution of higher education ranked in the top 15.
The rankings are based on employee feedback on satisfaction in the workplace and a review of the companies' procedures, policies, cultures and practices. The survey was distributed directly to 161,000 employees and asked them to evaluate their satisfaction with their workplace, according to a press release on the university home page.
The rankings are a joint project of San Francisco Business Times, Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal, East Bay Business Times and Deloitte. Surveys were completed by 464 companies.

"With projects spanning the spectrum from nanosatellites to dust mitigation, and from the use of sustainable materials in construction to dynamic server management, our students are doing exciting and important work," boasted the senior design Web site.
A banquet and awards ceremony will follow the conference at 5 p.m. in the California Mission Room of Benson Memorial Center.
