Environmental examination of Darfur crisis

The Environmental Studies Institute will be hosting a talk on the nature of the Darfur crisis at noon, Friday Sept. 29.

The talk will be in Montgomery House, 874 Lafayette. St. Montgomery House is the new home of the Environmental Studies Institute, which was formerly located on campus in the recently moved Craftsman House.

Google programming contest announced

A contest seeking inventive and creative programming additions, or "gadgets," designed to work on the Google home page was announced Sept. 20.

The contest, sponsored by Google, invites students with all levels of experience to submit their gadgets by Nov. 1.

Gadgets will be judged in a variety of categories, including "Most Useful" and "Most Likely to Help You Get A Date."

Resource room opening

A kick-off party for a new resource room will be held on Oct. 3 at 7 p.m.

The room was sponsored by Center for Multicultural Learning, and the ethnic studies and women and gender studies programs.

The room is designed to provide book collections to aid in undergraduate research on themes of ethnicity, race, identity and class.

The room will also serve as a study area and can hold meetings and events.

The research room is located in the Crossroads building, 862 Market St., across from Dunne and Swig Halls.
