Osberg memorial service scheduled for Nov. 28
A university memorial service to celebrate the life of English professor Richard Osberg, who died of unspecified neurological problems Oct. 17 at age 60, will be held Nov. 28 at 4:30 p.m. in the Mission Church.
All members of the university are welcome to attend the service planned with the help of Osberg's wife, Sally.
In addition to teaching classes in Chaucer, poetry and medievalism for 25 years, Osberg served as director of the University Honors Program as well as director of the Office of Fellowships. University President Paul Locatelli, S.J., announced the service in an e-mail on Monday.
"A reception will follow in the Nobili Dining Room, where, as a community, we can further share with one another our many memories of Dick," stated Locatelli in the e-mail.
MCC to hire new staff by next week
Multicultural Center Director Judy Kuo is seeking applicants to fill eight paid staff positions and eight volunteer at-large openings on the MCC Executive Board.
Staff positions range in duties, with an average commitment of five to 10 hours a week. At-large members are volunteer positions.
"The concept is we have students who represent opinions of the SCU community at large," Kuo said.
Both staff and at-large members are required to attend weekly Executive Board meetings.
Kuo will be interviewing candidates next week and announcing the positions on Nov. 16. Kuo said she is looking for people who are hardworking and willing to learn about the MCC.
Applications for staff and at-large positions are due tomorrow. The application form can be picked up and dropped off in the Shapell Lounge.
