Female student assaulted on Park Avenue

A female student was assaulted early Saturday on Park Avenue, Campus Safety and the Office of Student Life announced in a safety advisoryWednesday.

According to Campus Safety, the student was walking alone and was approached by a man in his early 20s. The man allegedly grabbed the woman; however, she was able to escape unharmed.

The suspect was not identified, and it was unknown whether or not this was an isolated incident. Students with any information about the incident or the suspect are asked to contact Campus Safety or the Santa Clara Police Department.

LGBTQ day of silence Thursday

A group of students will be observing a day of silence on Thursday in support of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people.

Students interested in participating can come to Kenna Lawn anytime Thursday to pick up a "silenced" badge and flyers to hand out to explain their silence to others.

The day is sponsored by Gays and Straights Promoting Education and Diversity and the Gay and Lesbian Alliance.

Students group aims to raise AIDS awareness

Santa Clara students, who are part of the FACE AIDS organization, will be holding events next week to raise funds and support for AIDS issues, including a film on the effects the epidemic has had on Africa and an academic forum featuring leading AIDS researchers.
