Comedy meets sportsmanship in Mike Tyson
By Josh Griffin
Sports is one aspect of my life that continually brings me happiness. But when comedy meets sports, I am overcome with the greatest happiness of all.
Several combinations of sports and comedy spring to mind. Marvin Bernard is good for a laugh on every deep fly ball, making the routine look spectacular.
I laugh every time Kenny Mayne talks about tackle football and Bill Simmons makes reference to self-ignition.
There is no comedic event in sports, however, that matches the magnitude of a Mike Tyson interview.
Even when he is not talking about eating the offspring of opponents or biting them in the leg, he is good for some sidesplitting laughter.
In a recent ESPN interview, Tyson said, "I may like to fornicate more than other people it's just who I am. I sacrifice so much of my life, can I at least get laid?" Someone please introduce this man to Shawn Kemp immediately.
"But you really have to look at the science of the situation," Tyson added, in reference to journalists. "You guys come here to talk and report but you don't actually look at the facts of what this business is all about."
The only question here is who really knows more about science Tyson, or the journalist.
Finally, in a line that only Yogi Berra can revere, the former champ said, "They don't know me as an individual, they know me for what I actually do."
I have concluded that the one thing more humorous than a Tyson interview is the notion that those cable executives expect me to pay $55 just to see this lunatic get annihilated by Lennox Lewis. At least Tyson has his fornication.
