Earth Week Celebrations commemorate sustainability
By Staff reports
In commemoration of Earth Week, several Sustainability Teach-Ins have been held in Kennedy Commons throughout the week. Lectures will be given both on our community's efforts in being a more sustainable school as well as what improvements can still be made.
Film Screenings regarding the topic of sustainability are also being held. The "Forces of Nature," shown in the library's Viewing Room A, as well as "Fresh," shown in Viewing Room B, were each screened in the Harrington Learning Commons on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.
There were also tours of the Solar Decathlon houses, Donohoe Alumni House, and the Forge Community & Education Garden. An Earth Day and Vendor Fair by the Green Club was held yesterday, featuring crafts, games, as well as several local vendors specializing in items made from repurposed materials.
The various events attempt to inspire students, faculty and staff to take a closer look at their environment and to apply the concepts of sustainability in their own lives while raising awareness about the issues involved.
