Election Time

Next week students will cast their ballots for next year's election of representatives of Associated Students (AS) governing body.

Elections for next year's president, vice president and senate chair take place April 30 in the Santa Clara Mall. Students in the running began campaigning yesterday at 7 a.m., which efforts continue until election day.

Next Monday, the Santa Clara community can meet the runners at a "meet the candidates night" in The Bronco. President and vice president candidates will also take part in a debate Tuesday.

Candidates that decide to run for student office must must attend an election info session night and complete a campaign packet, according to Melissa Meek, the AS financial Vice President. While each candidate's platform is unique, most want to improve the quality of life and breadth of voice students have in the community.

We want people to know who we are and what we do," said Taylor McClure, a candidate for AS president. "We want to put a face and purpose to Associated Students."

Ballots will be available from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
