Faculty granted tenure
By Staff reports
Members of the Santa Clara University faculty were officially granted tenure by President Michael Engh, S.J. In the academic professor setting, tenure refers to protection: by receiving tenure, they are given a non-expiring contract, ensuring a job as long as the department remains active. A faculty member's eligibility for tenure is determined by teaching ability, publication record and a combination of departmental service and student advising.
The thirteen faculty members selected were either given tenure and/or promotion. The five professors who received both tenure and a promotion to the rank of associate professor are Katherine Aoki, Steven Suljack, Amy Randall, David Feldman and Sarah Kate Wilson, while Jill Pellettieri recieved tenure. The seven professors who were promoted to the rank of associate professor are Mary Hegland, Elizabeth Dahlhoff, Michael Carrasco, Richard Scott, Terri Peretti, Kieran Sullivan and Lisa Goldstein.
