Fourth season stays fresh with enticing scenarios

By Monica Valle

With a TV.com ranking of 9.1 out of 10, the fourth season of "Nip/Tuck" is even more dramatic than ever.

Last season ended with a surprising twist, leaving the Carver free and alive, not dead as everyone believed him to be.

After receiving reconstructive surgery on her face when the Carver defaced her, Kimber decided to leave Christian for good, convinced they could start from where they left off. But little did he know, he had molded her into someone she wasn't. Kimber was determined to move on from her relationship with Christian and find herself away from a world of pretentious cosmetic surgery.

Having the Carver remain alive leaves this fourth season open to interpretation, with a possible appearance by the Carver, or another equally twisted season finale. In the meantime, however, we have only witnessed kidney robberies versus the physical defacing that took place last season.

Could the Carver be behind these organ larcenies? Or could it be a ploy to leave the audience in utter shock again?

The beginning of this season has been a roller coaster ever since the Troy/McNamara practice was sold to Michelle (Sanaa Lathan), a new addition to the show.

Vast character development takes place when Christian begins to fall in love with Michelle, showing him as more human, rather than as the typical asshole he tends to portray. This trait comes through when Rosie O'Donnell makes a special appearance on the show as a trailer-trash lottery winner.

After winning millions of dollars, she requests "the works" for herself, as well as breast implants for her daughter and a penis enlargement for her new husband, both of whom end up screwing O'Donnell over when she discovers the two of them having sex together.

Feeling hurt and devoid of attention, O'Donnell pays Christian an outrageous amount of money to sleep with her. Michelle is then given the money so she can get out of debt.

Not only are Christian and Michelle falling for each other, but so are Julia and the new dwarf nanny who takes care of her and Sean's newborn.

The recent event of them sleeping together was also a bit surprising, even though we knew their kissing and lengthy talks were leading to more than just a friendship.

Another bizarre story line is when depressed Matt and Scientology follower Kimber begin to get a lot closer than expected after seeing each other at the gym. The fact that Kimber and Christian slept together in the past (and now Christian's son and Kimber have probably slept together as well) is part of the unconventional story line of this thrilling show.

Have these scenes all been a bit too much for everybody to handle or will the show continue to fully intrigue and consume viewers?
