Kyle Bailey out for season
By Josh Griffin
Junior point guard and All-West Coast Conference performer Kyle Bailey decided to sit out the remainder of the 2002-2003 season and apply for a medical hardship waiver from the WCC. He has struggled with a lingering back injury as well as a stress reaction in his left foot.
Bailey had played in six games, averaging 12.2 points in the non-conference season for the Broncos. He suffered the stress fracture in his foot in the home contest against the University of Washington on Dec. 7.
Last year, he excelled in his first full year of starting, garnering All-WCC honors and returning as one of the best players in the conference. Sophomore point guard Bakari Altheimer will inherit the bulk of the minutes at the point guard position, as he returns from missing the first 13 games of the season with a fractured foot.
