Letter to the Editor

Dear fellow students,

I would like to take this opportunity to encourage all students to embody the principles of inclusive excellence with consistency.

With Halloween celebrations upon us, I ask you to be cognizant of the way certain costumes may affect your fellow students. Despite our best intentions, we may not always be fully aware of the ways in which our actions impress others. However, the inability to recognize the potency of our actions does not excuse us from their consequences.

Because college is such an influential and exciting stage of our lives, it often becomes easy to make mistakes. As cliché as it may sound, however, I am asking you to think before you act. Will your costume unintentionally offend a fellow student? By asking simple questions like this before you rightfully celebrate the end -- hopefully -- of your midterms, you are far less likely to hurt someone. My request is that simple. Please make your best effort to avoid hurting the members with whom you share this community.

Have fun, and keep it classy. Go Broncos.
