Bronco fans

Thank You! I would like to commend the students for such a spirted showing at the men's basketball game against St. Mary's on Sat., Feb. 7. Your efforts unquestionably contributed to a very convincing win over our tough rival. I can't recall a better game-day atmosphere in the Leavey Center.

We all caught a glimpse of our basketball future here versus Saint Mary's. That is precisely the environment we are trying to create, and what you have been telling us you want. As students here, you alone hold the key to re-creating that atmosphere every single game. Your enthusiasm has a significant impact on our team and certainly everyone else in the building.

We only have two more men's home games -- Gonzaga on Feb. 26 and Portland on Feb 28. I know you'll deliver it for the Zags on ESPN2. I challenge you to create that same big-time atmosphere for Portland -- a 3 p.m. game. It's senior day, and we hope to have a huge crowd to celebrate Big John Bryant and Calvin Johnson. They both deserve a huge turn-out of spirted fans for their final home game. We've provided you with 1,000 of the very best seats in the house. Mark your calendar today, and make sure you bring all your excitement with you.

Keep it positive, classy and creative -- that's what Santa Clara is all about. Thank you for all of your support. I am honored to be your athletic director.
