School's silence disappointing
Going to a small Jesuit school has plenty of perks. Small classes, easy access to professors, nice environment, etc. It was really nice seeing the e-mails honoring the lives of Moses Salcido and Bill Spohn after they recently passed on. However, I was greatly disappointed by the school's failure to do the same for Jeannine Masch, one of the athletic department's most loved -- and unpaid -- volunteers.
Aside from tennis player Kevin McQuaid expressing his sorrow over her death on santaclarabroncos.com, there was absolutely no mention of her death on the Web site or by the school in an e-mail, as was done for both Moses and professor Spohn.
Jeannine touched the lives of so many students here at Santa Clara and she is sorely missed by many. The school's silence on the matter is not what I have come to expect from the university I chose for its close-knit Jesuit environment. Since the school won't honor her, I will.
God bless you, Jeannine, we love you and we'll never forget what you've done for us.
