Multicultural Center Hosts Global Village

Join the MCC in a community celebration of culture

The Multicultural Center’s (MCC) 38th annual Global Village will happen on April 13, from 12- 4 p.m. in the courtyard between the Learning Commons and Benson.

Central to the evening will be the showcase of 15 on-campus clubs that have dedicated their efforts to fundraising for organizations of their choosing. Members of these clubs will be involved in performances, food and merchandise sales, as well as various activities throughout the night.

This year's theme, "Crossroads: Where Culture and Identity Meet," underscores the Global Village's mission to celebrate and share the numerous cultures that enrich Santa Clara’s community.

“What I enjoy most about performing at Global Village is that it is a chance for the music and dance of all Santa Clara students to be brought together,” said Bella Estrada, member of Ballet Folkórico de SCU “As a cultural and performing arts club on campus, it’s really special for us to be able to see other clubs or members continuing to spread their culture like we try to.”

The event provides a platform for MCC student organizations to connect with one another and the larger community by sharing food, organizing fundraisers, presenting performances and hosting activities. The event is centered around sharing and celebrating the richness of diverse cultures.

This opportunity allows students to showcase their cultural heritage and practices to Santa Clara and within the broader community. Past performances have featured an array of traditional dances, powerful vocal performances and moving instrumental pieces.

From captivating performances to enticing food and vibrant merchandise, Global Village promises to be an immersive experience celebrating the diversity of the community.

“I am excited to see our MCC community come together to celebrate one another and celebrate diversity and inclusion on our campus,” said Hydeia Wysinger, cochair of Igwebuike, the black student union, and the community outreach director of the MCC.
