Only one thing left to do: Vote

By Editorial

By now, most of us have probably had our fill of Joe the Plumber, William Ayers and Sarah Palin's wardrobe. But one thing is certain: Now we must go vote.

If we don't, this several month media circus will have all been in vain.

So we invite you to take up your civic duty and privilege and decide the future of this country. It's probably trite at this point to say it, but this is truly the most important general election of our lives.

History will be made one way or another, but it will be up to us how we want to write it.

Not only do we invite you to vote for president, but we plead with you to vote all the way down the ballot.

California is staring its future in the eye, and we should be so lucky to be included in the decision-making process. The propositions on which Californians will be voting will dictate the direction of the state for a long time to come.

We also ask you to vote smart. Don't just take what's written on the ballot at face value. There's a lot more there that has happened behind the scenes.

For example, consider who wrote the proposition, who's funding it. Investigate who's backing it, and what interest groups have played a role in it. Take a page from our book.

At The Santa Clara, we love to gather the news. Do some investigatory work to help you decide how you would like to vote.

And for those of you absentee and early voters who have already made our voices heard, we commend you. For the rest of you, we'll see you at the polls.
