Pasta Pomodoro pleases patrons
By Andrew Hardenbrook
On the way to downtown San Jose, Pasta Pomodoro has always caught my attention and I decided to finally give it a try. The main reason why I had refrained from dining there over the last four years was the fear of high prices.
In general, Italian restaurants cost more and with Pasta Pomodoro's sleek exterior, the upscale image was only enhanced. However, with my dad and his wallet in town, I decided that it was time to give it a try.
With a completely glass front, there is no secret to Pasta Pomodoro's interior with seating both at regular tables and at the pasta bar. Service is friendly and quick, but what I really want to talk about is the food.
I had the Frutti di Mare that consisted of spaghetti served with mussels, shrimp and calamari all in a light tomato sauce. It was fabulous! But the best part is that it only cost $7.95. All week long, my dad and I had been eating at seafood places and we were lucky to pay under $20, yet none of them could even hold a candle to the meal I got at Pasta Pomodoro. With its close proximity to campus, low prices and great cuisine, there is no reason not give this place a chance.
