Santa Clara holds seminar for Jesuit educational institutions

By TSC Staff

Representatives from all 28 Jesuit American universities and colleges came together on the Santa Clara campus to discuss their hopes for what Jesuit higher education can and will be in the future during the National Seminar on Jesuit Higher Education this past weekend.

During the Seminar, the eleven members of the NSJHE met with 55 of Santa Clara's faculty, staff and administrators on Friday, as well as 25 students on Saturday, to discuss Santa Clara University as an academic institution, its identity as Catholic and Jesuit, and issues that have an impact on its mission.

The idea for a National Seminar developed 22 years ago when representatives from these schools met at Georgetown University to discuss the future of Jesuit Higher Education.

The discussion was important enough that they decided to spread their knowledge through annual meetings and a magazine publication.
