SCENE SPOTLIGHT

"I want studios, I want camps, I want business, I want it all. I don't want to limit myself to just one thing." Anyone who knows Esther Ayorinde know that the last thing she is doing is limiting herself. As a sophomore undeclared business and dance major, Ayorinde's life revolves around school, work and dance, dance, dance.

Dance has been a passion of Ayorinde's for a long time. She has fulfilled her passion for this art in a number of ways. She teaches dance at the Dance Arts Academy of San Jose, is a member of Santa Clara's Dance Team, works for DanCyn studios in San Jose, coaches the Gunderson high school dance team, is currently starting a dance camp of her own and is a cheerleader for the San Francisco 49ers.

For someone so involved in activities that occur outside of Santa Clara's campus, one must wonder how Ayorinde keeps everything in life balanced; after all, being a college student is very time consuming. "It's hard to keep everything balanced. As soon as one thing finishes, I'm off rushing to class or to practice or to work. It's hard because sometimes I just want to chill with friends or just relax but there's always something to do."

As far as prioritizing her extracurriculars and academic activities, Ayorinde decides by thinking about what she wants most, how it benefits her and what is most important. Right now, obviously, school is her main concern; after all, that's what she's here for. "Time is the only thing I've really had to give up since I've been here, time is my sacrifice. Everything else is all stuff that I want to be doing and that I enjoy doing. It's just all about balance."

Ayorinde's favorite activities right now consist of her cheerleading for the 49ers and planning and recruiting for her upcoming camp. Ayorinde says, "The girls are really fun and it's an awesome networking opportunity; plus, who doesn't want to get into games for free?" As far as her camp is concerned, Ayorinde is looking right now for anyone who has a passion for dance and performance to sign up.
