SCENE SPOTLIGHT

Most people come to college and participate in one or two activities. Azuri Williams, a junior sociology major, has taken extracurricular activity participation to a whole new level. Along with going to class like all of the other thousands of students on this campus, Williams is also a secretary for Igwebuike, an ambassador for the admissions office, a member of the Peer Judicial Board, a program coordinator for SCCAP and a member of the Sociology Student's Club.

With so many extracurriculars, one may wonder which brings Williams the most pleasure. When asked what activity she enjoyed the most, she answered "Working with SCCAP. Through working with SCCAP I have been able to learn things that I did not previously know about myself and about the community of San Jose. I have been able to take part in special projects and events that benefit those who are less fortunate than myself. But most importantly, I have been able to live out what Santa Clara stands for and that is a school that values competence, conscience, and compassion. And through working with SCCAP I have been able to do all three as well as many more."

Williams feels that the best part about working within SCCAP is "being able to work with other students at Santa Clara that have the same drive as myself to want to be able to help those that are less fortunate than ourselves." She feels like SCCAP really provides insight into who we are as a Santa Clara community and what we can do to help the outlying Santa Clara community. She feels that her participation in SCCAP and other activities has expanded her circle of contacts and introduced her to new people.
