Second Life: Chat log from Thursday morning's ribbon cutting ceremony

The opening ceremonies for Santa Clara Island last Thursday lasted from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. University President Paul Locatelli, S.J., cut the red ribbon at 10:45 a.m. with his avatar PapaLoc Pastorelli.

Most communication in Second Life is done via typed chats. This chat log records typed conversations between avatars during the initial stages of the opening. All names are avatar names.

Digital stories are short videos based on personal narratives and composed of the storyteller's voiceover of a script, images both personal and representational, a soundtrack, all assembled in video editing software. The relatively small .mov files produced are often burned to DVD or CD for sharing and viewing.[11:40] Boomer Writer: You will be able to play the movie by pressing on the play button on your media viewer.[11:41] Boomer Writer: We will be seeing five stories in the next half hour or so. They will each be available for viewing for about 5-7 minutes. I will introduce each with a few comments about it, and you will be able to view it on your computer by clicking on the media player at the bottom of your SL window. Make sure you have enabled your media player in Preferences. Using earbuds or headphones will give you better sound quality. Please pardon any technical difficulties we might have along the way.
