Speeding Bullets

-The men's soccer team is quickly becoming our school's version of the Cardiac Kids. In a very rough (47 fouls, six yellow cards) game against Gonzaga Friday night, the Broncos squeaked out a 1-0 victory as junior Brett Davis found the back of the net with only 1:45 to go. This was the team's second win in their last three where the Broncos pulled out a win in the last three minutes.
-Congratulations to sophomore cross country runner Michael Helms, recently named the sport's WCC athlete of the month for September. He made history by becoming the inaugural winner of that award.
-Our women's soccer team continues to roll. By beating Marquette 1-0 Sunday on a goal from redshirt freshman Aly Wagner, the team continued its record home winning streak - which now stands at 23 in a row - and kept their perfect record for this season intact at 13-0-0.
-This is from the "I just have to put the idea out there" department: How about a complimentary round of golf with the golf team for TSC's sports team and friends? Especially if you ever play at, say, Pebble Beach, Pasatiempo, Coyote Creek or somewhere along those lines. Hey, it doesn't hurt to try, right? I may need a few mulligans, though.
-I received a fascinating letter in my box this week from the Let Them Play Foundation, Inc. Their goal is to bring back football to our fair university. They make very interesting and compelling arguments, although I personally am not so sure it would be completely economically feasible for Santa Clara to have a football team. For more information, contact them at the Let Them Play Foundation, Inc., P. O. Box 2297, Santa Clara, 95055.
