A Santa Clara student was struck by a car last week while crossing the street, police said Wednesday.
Jessica Alway, 20, could not be reached for comment, but a friend, however, said she is out of the hospital and recently returned to school.
Alway, a Santa Clara junior, was transported to Valley Medical Center, but police would not elaborate on her condition, citing patient confidentiality.
Alway was crossing Park Avenue near Park Court at 8:30 p.m. March 31 when a car struck her, Sgt. Kurt Clarke, a Santa Clara police spokesman, said.
"She was crossing the roadway, saw the vehicle and expected it to stop," Clarke said, referring to written statements taken at the scene.
The driver was not charged and police confirmed that alcohol was not a factor in the collision.
