Students from Santa Clara University, Stanford University, and San Jose State University came together Wednesday, May 28, for a Teach-In titled “Peace is Climate Justice,” aimed at examining the intersection between climate change, global conflict and the military-industrial complex.

Hosted by Santa Clara University’s Associated Student Government and Students for Justice in Palestine, the event featured a series of speakers, storytelling and media presentations. Organizers said the teach-in sought to raise awareness of how systems of violence and environmental destruction are interlinked.

“The Teach-In format is great because we're out in a space that is very public and open to the community,” said Gracie James-Hickey, ASG chief of staff. “It gives everyone on our campus community—whether that be student, administration, faculty or even just Santa Clara Community members as a whole—a space to come and feel empowered and learn.”
