Three options that satisfy beef patty cravings

By Parker McNulty

As college students, we can probably all agree that hamburgers are some of the most popular and widely eaten food for these young adult years of our lives.

I feel as though I have encountered three distinct places to find a great burger and fries.

Left Bank, Rosie McCann's and Outback Steakhouse are located within 10 minutes of driving. All three have different types of burgers and all three are top ranked.

Left Bank is known for its French cuisine. Located in Santana Row, it often gets crowded, making it difficult to get a table.

They cook your burger to order, so specify how you want it to be cooked. The fries that come with the burger are also some of the best I have ever had: thin cut fries almost always cooked to perfection.

The burgers are served on a sourdough bun instead of your typical burger bun. I personally like this because you can taste all of the flavors coming from the meat and condiments.

A burger at Left Bank is about $10, and the service is consistently well-mannered and very friendly. Even if you are with people who are boring, the place has enough interesting decorations to keep you occupied.

Next on the list is a pub called Rosie McCann's, also located in Santana Row. This pub has some great eating and a very relaxing feel. If you go at night, the restaurant turns into a bar at about 9 p.m.

A burger at Rosie McCann's is pretty much the typical burger that you would expect from a nicer place like this. The burger comes with all the usual condiments, and the bun is your typical sesame bun. The fries are good, but nothing to write home about. The meal is filling and comes with bread as an appetizer. The service is always fast and very friendly.

Lastly, Outback Steakhouse is a widely known name when it comes to dining options. They serve a variety of foods, from a nice steak to a freshly tossed pasta. This is the least gourmet of them all, but definitely not the worst.

I enjoy a basic burger, with all of my condiments on the side. The quality is not as good as the other two places, nor is it as expensive. The burger costs $8 due to the large order of fries that comes on the side (I often choose Outback just because of the fries). I personally like the fries with layered cheese.

These three places offer different environments that allow you to have your burger on a date, with your family when they visit or just with some friends looking for some seriously filling food.

I would tell you my personal favorite, but to be honest, it highly depends on the mood and the situation, thus these are my three favorites. Happy eating.
