The Santa Clara Adjunct and Lecturer Union (SALU) will hold a demonstration near Leavey Center before the men’s basketball game against Gonzaga on Thursday, January 10. A similar demonstration is planned for Saturday, January 13 when Santa Clara plays St. Mary's and alumni arrive for 2 p.m. tours of the Schott Athletic Excellence Center before the 4 p.m. game.

In a recent email sent to faculty, members of Santa Clara’s Contract Action Team call upon President Julie Sullivan and Chair of the Board of Trustees Larry Sonsini to authorize the administration team to make more generous offers on remaining issues, especially compensation and promotion. “We anticipate that President Sullivan will attend [the Gonzaga game],” the email stated. “Can we get her attention and warn her not to drop the ball on the union contract?”

These issues come to light near the one-year anniversary of the contract action team’s first bargaining session with the administration. Faculty not only seek to make their frustrations clear to President Sullivan, but they also plan to use signs and petition fliers to get the attention and support of students and visiting alumni. “Please join us outside Schott,” the email stated. “Show your support for your colleagues!”
