Volleyball starts WCC

The Santa Clara volleyball team (9-6) travels to Portland and Gonzaga this weekend after dropping their first two WCC contests in the Leavey Center.

Loyola-Marymount University and Pepperdine privided a difficult challenge for the Broncos, who lost both matches by a combined score of 6-1.

The Broncos have reason to believe that they can turn it around, however. Sophomore Dana Knudsen is No. 3 in the league in hitting at .342.

Emily Burke is third in the league with 10.75 kpg and Bridget O'Hara is second in the WCC with 4.65 dpg.

Although the team will leave Mission Campus for the next two contests, both Portland and Gonzaga have struggled recently.

Portland (7-11) has also yet to win a game in their two WCC contests. The Pilots have yet to take a set in WCC play.

Gonzaga (2-16) fell to the same teams as Portland, Saint Mary's and San Diego.

The Zags only have wins over San Jose State and CSU-Bakersfield.
