Who gets your vote?

The Associated Student Government elections held Tuesday resulted in a race too close to call. A runoff for student body president and vice president will be held today between two tickets: Chris Mosier & Nhunguyen Le and Winston Yu & Blake Martini.

The presidential runoff is not unfamiliar to Santa Clara. Last year, the elections resulted in a runoff between this year's President and Vice President Sean Brachvogel & Katherine Quinn-Shea and runners-up Andrea Carrera & Katherine Nicholson. According to Mosier, a candidate needs either a minimum of 50 percent of the vote or a 20 percent victory margin to win the election outright.

According to Quinn-Shea, results from Tuesday's election showed that Mosier and Le nabbed 44.56 percent of the votes, just shy of the 50 percent minimum needed to win the election. Yu and Martini were not far behind, amassing 36.49 percent.

The voting will take place today beginning at 8 a.m. through 11:59 p.m.

The president/vice president ticket is not the only position up for grabs on Thursday. Freshmen Briana Britton and Robert Leupp will also be in a runoff for Senate Chair. A mere six votes separated the two candidates after Tuesday's election, with Leupp bringing in 35.91 percent of the votes. Britton had 34.76 percent.
