The women's tennis team picked up its first win of the year Friday, beating the University of San Francisco 8-1. The win improved the Broncos' overall record to 1-3 on the season.

It was a clean sweep for the Broncos in singles play, as all six players recorded victories. Senior Sarah Duncan, playing out of the No. 1 position, led the charge, easily handling her opponent 6-2, 6-0. Freshmen Christine Limbers, Mariko Kawakami and Pati Ruiz also picked up wins for this young and improving team, as did sophomore Nicole McCord and senior Jodie Curran.

In doubles action, the team of Duncan and McCord were victorious, as was the team of Kawakami and freshman Ashley Campbell.

The women will next be in action this Friday when they take on Sonoma State at the Santa Clara Tennis Center. The matches begin at 2 p.m.

The Broncos will then travel north to Davis to take on the Aggies of UC Davis Saturday.
