Writer's block hits Santa Clara sports scene

By Josh Griffin

Many of the great ones have had their off days. Michael Jordan has missed more dunks this year than he's converted, Tiger Woods shot an 81 at the British last year and even the Harlem Globetrotters lose now.

And then there's me, who is fresh out of ideas for a sports column. The Griff has been stricken by a horrifying case of writer's block, and he's got a headache. Maybe it's because I'm starting to gain perspective in the world, and realize that many things are more important than sports (unlikely). Perhaps I just can't be a sports writer ever again (I really hope that's not the case).

I could possibly be too preoccupied with other aspects of my life. The quarter life crisis of September still lingers in March and has no foreseeable conclusion. My humor could have run dry, but I was never really that funny anyway (if you laughed at that comment, thanks for the support). I know I can't talk about the Cubs, Broncos and Joe Millionaire every week, which apparently is a disappointment I have yet to overcome.

The actual reason is likely the amount of things on my mind - graduation, Capstone, grades, the general female population, "Rushmore" and the looming global crisis that our nation's great leader appears intent upon seeing through.

Well, Dubya, I know that Saddam tried to kill your daddy, but we have a few problems here in our country that could use some work. I wouldn't mind having a job next year, but please allow the economy to continue to wallow away in a sickly state. And don't worry about any improvements to health care and education, because, shoot, what's a healthy, educated society anymore? Let's just create more war mongers, and shoot for Saddam.

I guess I can possibly handle this writer's block. Look for me next quarter as a writer in the opinion section.
