ASG Election Run-Off Vote
In a compelling turn of events, Santa Clara’s Associated Student Government announced Tuesday that the first round of voting for the presidency and vice presidency was too close to call and that the election would continue as a run-off.
Local Leaders Endorse Congressional Hopeful
At a town hall meeting on Monday, City of Santa Clara Mayor Lisa Gillmor and councilwoman Kathy Wanabe officially endorsed Democratic candidate Ro Khanna who is currently campaigning to represent California’s 17th District in Congress. According to Gillmor, this is the first time she has ever endorsed a candidate for higher office.

Apr. 22: A male campus resident was observed defiantly drinking a beer in a Swig Residence Hall elevator. He was identified and also found in possession of two bags of marijuana, paraphernalia and unmarked pills. CSS confiscated and disposed of the items.
Students Calling for Refunds from College Party Company
Santa Clara students are demanding their money back after college party company I’m Shmacked raised over $30,000 for a concert advertised to be held near campus in February. Despite months of anticipation, the party hasn’t happened yet.

Apr. 13: A female student was reported intoxicated after consuming several shots of vodka and an ecstasy tablet. CSS, SCU EMS and SCFD responded. Paramedics transported her to O’Connor Hospital.
Road to Locatelli: Presidential Candidates Vie for Top Spot
There was little disagreement among candidates at the Associated Student Government’s election debate last night. Three tickets for president and vice president spoke to approximately 30 members of the campus community.

Runner Mobile App Takes Over Campus
For the last year, students have used the beloved “Runner: Tasks on Campus” Facebook page to request food deliveries, phones, furniture, concert tickets and transportation. Now, with a recently developed app, Broncos will able to request these goods from the convenience of their mobile phones.

School of Theology Appoints New Dean
A new leader will take the helm of Santa Clara’s prestigious Jesuit School of Theology at the beginning of next academic year. Kevin O’Brien, S.J. the current vice president for mission and ministry at Georgetown University, will take over as dean of JST starting August 1, 2016.

Apr. 7: CSS noticed a student on surveillance video dragging a tree branch into Swig Residence Hall. The student was not cooperative and SCPD was called. SCPD arrested the resident for being drunk in public.

With the release of Academy Award-winning film, “Spotlight,” the Catholic Church’s sexual abuse controversy has propelled the issue into the national spotlight once again. On Monday evening, the Santa Clara community took part in this discussion.
Fr. Engh Announces Creation of Blue Ribbon Commission
In his State of the University Address in February, Fr. Michael Engh, S.J. announced that Santa Clara will be convening a Blue Ribbon Commission on Diversity and Inclusion.
Boba Bubbles up in Santa Clara
Sharetea, a Taiwanese chain that sells black tea and pearl milk tea drinks commonly referred to as boba, just opened a new shop one block from campus. The new franchise hopes to capture the market of the student population.

Apr. 2: Two armed male suspects reportedly robbed a female student at 420 Lafayette Street, an off-campus location. The suspects then fled the area in a vehicle. A campus alert was issued after receiving specific details from SCPD.
CASA El Salvador Program Suspended
After more than 15 years of operation, Santa Clara has suspended the study abroad program CASA El Salvador for summer and fall 2016 due to the country’s increased homicide rate.
