With a slew of Big Greens, Charlie Sheens, Team Awesomes/Wins, Monstars and enough ball references to make mommy wonder what went wrong, we're kicking off our first inaugural appraisal of Santa Clara's best and worst intramural team names.

A season that began in October finally came to an end last Sunday at the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships. Finishing third and sixth respectively, the men's and women's crew teams were unable to achieve their goals.

The conclusion of the West Coast Conference Men's Golf Tournament this past weekend saw  Santa Clara capture fifth, marking the end of the team's official season. Scott Travers, the most decorated SCU golf player of all time, is currently training full-time in preparation to go pro at the end of this upcoming summer.

This year's men's tennis team finished second in the West Coast Conference for the second time in the past two years despite losing two seniors—Brian Brogan and Jay Wong—both of whom made a major impact on the team last season.

Roquemore was named to the All-WCC Freshman team and was named a Mid-Major All-American following the Broncos' championship.

26,000 people competed in the Boston Marathon on April 18, but David Steenson was the only Santa Clara student running in the race.

Despite a rocky first season at the DI level, the Broncos will still be receiving national recognition: by sending a player to the national rugby team. Freshman Tim O'Hara, a San Jose native, flourished with the Santa Clara University Touring Side (SCUTS) rugby squad in his first year with the team.

Because of his teams perennially ranking among the nation's top 20, Keith Wilbur, who has spent the last nine years coaching the men's and women's water polo programs at Santa Clara, became the all-time winningest coach in school history in 2006 and eclipsed the 100-victory mark in 2008.

Teams congregated from all over the nation; the Bronco Invite brought the competition to Santa Clara waters. After finding themselves on the losing end in three of the four games, the Broncos realized these waters were tested.

On what Santa Clara baseball Head Coach Mark O'Brien called the "biggest day of the year," the Broncos unraveled, falling 11-2 to the Loyola Marymount Lions, finishing the day on the wrong end of a weekend sweep.

Another Masters has come and gone and I'm still struggling to comprehend why it continues to be labeled as a "tradition like none other." I mean, you have got to give it to them; the idea of winning a "green jacket" is pretty awesome. But besides the unique jacket, the only aspect in which the Masters differentiated itself from any other large sports tournament were the masses of well pampered, middle-aged Caucasian males continually trouncing up and down on even more pampered sheets of grass.

In only a matter of days, the men's club volleyball team had the opportunity to dash their unforgiving season record at nationals. But Santa Clara's shot at a tournament trophy took a dive when Florida Gulf Coast wiped away the Broncos' hot streak (2-1).

He has struggled with aggression, alcohol and has admitted to working with a psychiatrist to hurdle tough patches. Countless youth and adults experience instability with their mental health. Artest is demonstrating that despite poor past choices, he is striving to change.

With the improved record, Santa Clara men's basketball participated in the postseason for the first time in 15 years after accepting a spot in the 2011 CollegeInsider.com Tournament (CIT). They won five-straight games in the tournament, including a notable 95-91 victory over rival USF, and finished with a 76-67 win over Iona College in New Rochelle, NY.
