The Santa Clara women’s basketball team swept Gonzaga and Portland, improving their home record to 9-2 on the season last week. The Broncos are now on a five game winning streak, three of which were at home.

On Thursday, the Broncos dropped an 84-67 contest to WCC powerhouse Gonzaga (16-5), in Spokane. On Saturday, the team defeated the Portland Pilots (9-15, 3-8) 90-84 extending their record to 8-15 overall and 4-7 in WCC games.

The Broncos’ disappointing season continued last Thursday against the University of San Francisco, as the team dropped the game 74-61, falling to 7-14 (3-6 WCC) on the season.

As football fans from every corner of the nation descend upon the Bay Area to watch the Denver Broncos duke it out with the Carolina Panthers, a few thousand of those visitors will find their way to Santa Clara’s campus the day before Super Bowl 50 at Levi’s Stadium.

This past Saturday, the women’s basketball team continued its excellent season after beating the University of San Francisco 68-57, outscoring the Dons 25-13 in the fourth quarter.
