On Saturday, May 2, Santa Clara Athletics inducted the class of 2026: Julie Ertz ’13, Marlon Garnett ’97, Katie Le ’14, Scott Travers ’10 and Jon Wallace into the Hall of Fame during a ceremony at the Leavey Center.

Santa Clara Hall of Fame class of 2014 inductee Danielle Slaton ’02 emceed the ceremony, interviewing each 2026 inductee about their journey to the Hall of Fame.

“It’s about embodying, it’s about personifying, it inspires future generations to reach for greatness and this class of honorees certainly lives up to that legacy. This year’s inductees reflect the very best of Bronco Athletics, an extraordinary group of student-athletes and a coach whose impact spans across sports, eras, and levels of competition from collegiate experience to the global stage,” said Slaton, before introducing the five inductees to the stage.

Ertz is one of the most decorated women’s soccer players in program history. As a Bronco, she earned three-time First Team All-America, three-time First Team All-West Region and three-time First Team All-WCC selections. She joined the U.S. Women’s National Team in 2013 and, in 2015, was one of five players to play every minute of all seven matches en route to winning the FIFA Women’s World Cup. The U.S. repeated as World Cup champions in 2019, and Ertz was voted as the U.S. Soccer Women’s Female Player of the Year for the second time.

Garnett, a standout player on the Santa Clara men’s basketball team, led the Broncos to the 1995 and 1996 NCAA Tournaments. He was named WCC Player of the Year in 1997 after leading the conference in scoring at 17.4 points per game. Garnett was previously honored as a member of the 1995-96 men’s basketball team. He went on to have a 13-year professional career in Europe following a short stint with the Boston Celtics, and later served as an assistant coach for the San Antonio Spurs, Phoenix Suns, Atlanta Hawks and Charlotte Hornets.

Le established herself as one of the top players in Santa Clara women’s tennis history. After earning WCC Freshman of the Year honors in 2011, she became the first Santa Clara tennis player, male or female, to qualify individually for the NCAA Division I Singles Championship. She later became the second player in program history to earn WCC Player of the Year and WCC First Team honors in both singles and doubles. She reached a career-high ranking of No. 20 in the NCAA individual rankings in March 2014.

Travers became Santa Clara’s first WCC Golfer of the Year in 2009-10 after an impressive season that included a school record nine top 10 finishes and 15 rounds scoring in the 60s. A two-time All-WCC performer, he became the first Bronco to qualify for the NCAA Tournament and was honored by the San Jose Hall of Fame as their Male Amateur Athlete of the Year in 2010. He won two individual tournament titles and finished with the fourth-lowest scoring average in program history.

Wallace led the Santa Clara volleyball team to 13 NCAA Tournament appearances, three WCC Championship titles, and 11 top-three conference finishes during his 20-year tenure as head coach. The Broncos won WCC Championship titles in 2000, 2005 and 2007. In 2005, Wallace guided the team on a deep run in the NCAA Tournament, earning multiple wins and advancing to the Final Four in Texas, where the No. 11 Broncos fell to top-seeded Nebraska. Santa Clara finished the season ranked fourth nationally, their highest ranking ever, and Wallace earned a pair of National Coach of the Year honors.

More from the inductees, including full interviews, will be published in an upcoming story.
