Don't lose sight of a sport itself
I can't stand it at sporting events when a popular song comes on while I wait for play to resume.
Health reform opinions mixed
While students ferociously Youtubed President Barack Obama's off-the-record insult towards Kanye West, his bluntness may have come too late.
Educate yourself on health care reform
It's unquestionable that the heated debate over Obama's health care reform plan has dominated the nation's media outlets over the past couple of weeks, leaving many citizens confused, angry, disappointed and unsure of what the future holds. But as large of an issue as this has become in the media and throughout the country, many questions remain unanswered and many Americans remain in the dark of what the plan truly entails.
Western effect on the third world
It was amazing to me to realize how much we assume and rely on the essence of our possessions. It is fair to say they are integral to the very structure of our society. In a moment of honest reflection, I can say that I love my possessions. I love to buy them, receive them, preserve them, use them and even show them off. But seeing first hand the stark corruption that the exposure of these seemingly simple things can bring to other countries, I now must question our unfailing dedication to these material possessions. The first platform of my observation lies in Bangkok, Thailand.Ã I found myself immersed in a small village on the outskirts of the city, fresh off the plane and chock full of hope and optimism.
Near perfect play at home tourney
In their first home games of the season, the Santa Clara men's water polo team came out of the Bronco Invitational with a 3-1 record.
A disappointing start
I, like the majority of Americans, went into this year with high hopes for President Barack Obama and for our country. I hoped that he might press for a bold and effective stimulus plan, that he might enact much needed health care reform, that he might end the war in Iraq and employ a different strategy for the failing war in Afghanistan. So far, Obama has been simply average on almost all four fronts. Granted, Obama has probably had to face more problems than any president since FDR, but as of now, his much-touted goals of hope and change have been left unfulfilled.

Successful women intimidate men
A cousin of mine is a successful lawyer in Los Angeles who has it all, it seems: her own home, a car and a promising career. She has worked hard for all she has, but it seems the confidence and strength she embodies has her lacking in the dating department.

No need to go far riding the Caltrain
Most Santa Clara students only know the Caltrain as the best way to get to Lovefest and Bay to Breakers in San Francisco, but few have discovered the unknown hot spots that lie along the tracks heading north.
